The Development Services Building is located adjacent to City Hall at 7012 Pine Street.
The Building Safety Division is open to the public:
Monday through Friday:
8:00 AM 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (excluding holidays).
Note: We are closed 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Inspection Requests: (209) 883-0811 -- Press 2 after system greeting begins.
Inspections requested Monday through Thursday before 4:00 PM will be scheduled for the following business day. Requests made after 4:00 PM will be added to the second business day. All inspection requests must be made through the inspection request line.
Our Mission Statement
The goal of the Building Safety Division is to protect the citizenry in and around the built environment through the enforcement of building codes and standards. We provide public safety by regulating the construction, alteration, moving, demolition, repair, use and occupancy of buildings, structures and building service equipment located within the City.
The Building Safety Division administers a variety of State and Local codes and is responsible for the following areas of regulation:
- Building Inspection and Approval
- Occupancy Approval
- Code Enforcement
- Project Plan-Set Review and Approval
- Permit Issuance
- Construction BMP's
