In honor of Hughson's 100 year anniversary, the City of Hughson has partnered with the Hughson Historical Society to sponsor a 2007 Centennial Celebration.  Along with the City and the Historical Society many of Hughson's citizens have volunteered to ensure Hughson can celebrate the distinguished heritage that is Hughson.

The Historical Society has commissioned renowned local artist, Betty Saletta to create a bronze sculpture that will depict a 1930's era peach picker, complete with picking bucket and lug box full of peaches - a once common image in a town that truly was "The Peach Capital of the World".

While the Historic Society is busy raising money for the statue, the City of Hughson has been busy with preparations to renovate a downtown park in which the commemorative statue will be the focal point.  The City has hired Derivi Construction & Architecture to help with the renovation of the City Park.  Renovations will include seating, landscaping, lighting, flag poles, a time capsule, a "donor wall", monuments and the statue.

The excitement is rapidly building for this endeavor which will culminate in an unveiling ceremony at the Hughson Centennial Celebration on September 22, 2007.
