Qualifications:
  • Candidate must be a registered voter within the City.
  • All Offices are elected at-large.
  • Must live in the City limits of Hughson.
Election Date:

The most recent election was held on November 8, 2022, for the offices of: Mayor, and (2) Councilmember.

 

Nomination Period:

The nomination period to pull papers to run for any of the offices listed above in the November 8, 2022 election opened on Monday, July 18 and closed on Friday, August 12 at 5:00 PM.  

 

General Information:

The City of Hughson is a General Law City that operates under the Council/Manager form of Municipal Government. Council members are elected every four years on an overlapping basis. Council elections are non-partisan and members are elected as at-large representatives of the citizens. The City Council is comprised of five (5) individuals.

Council members serve four (4) year terms and the Mayor serves a four (4) year term. The Mayor is the ceremonial head of the city and as such represents the City at official functions, signs all ordinances, and resolutions approved by the City Council.

Council members also serve as City representatives on various regional, state, and local organizations, as well as government boards and committees where the concerns and interests of the City require participation and involvement. Council members receive compensation of $250.00 per month and the Mayor $300.00 per month for their respective services.

The Hughson City Council holds regular meetings at 6:00 PM, on the second and fourth Mondays of every month.
